What in the world is a geofence?
The word geofence is short for "geographical fence" which is a virtual boundary that you can create around your remote assets. For example,
if you'd like to receive a notification that one of your vehicles is near its destination you can create a geofence around this location.
When the vehicle enters or exits this location you can receive an email or text message notifying you of the event.
How hard is it to install my Ublip device and antenna?
Easier than you think. Now that we have the short answer out of the way we think you'll be suprised at how easy it is to install as well as
the various options you have. We provide you with power adapters to connect to a cigarette lighter or OBD connector. You can always opt for a professional install as well.
Where can I install my Ublip device and antenna?
- You will be provided with an installation guide inside the box – as well as an assortment of zip ties, velcro and other hardware to aid in the installation process. Examples of proper installation are also contained on the Ublip web site at www.ublip.com/tour.
- However, you should understand that there is no single form of installation. Each vehicle is slightly different and it will be up to you to use good common sense to find the best location for your device and for your antenna.
- For the "cigarette lighter installation" – we recommend tucking the tracking device and excess wiring inside the glove compartment; for the OBD installation (plugging into the Onboard Diagnostics port under the dashboard), we recommend tying or velcro-ing the device in the open space under the dashboard.
What is the difference between the quick install and the complete install?
The quick install is primarily intended as a quick way to see how the system works. Depending on the vehicle and your needs, the quick install may suit your needs permanently. One of the main questions is whether your cigarette lighter outlet stays on when the ignition is turned off. If it does not, the unit will not be able to report that the car has stopped, thus stop reports will not work correctly. The other question is whether you can route the wiring and place the device and antenna in a safe and unobtrusive fashion.
Does Ublip offer a 30 day money back guarantee?
- Absolutely! You may cancel your account within 30 days of purchase and receive a full refund, with the exception of shipping/handling and your first month of service. There will also be a 15% restocking fee for the device, which you must return within seven days.
- You are solely responsible for properly canceling your account. To cancel an account, you must email us at support@ublip.com. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging the cancellation request and providing 24 hours to change your mind before the account is cancelled.
- All of your devices, and the data history, will be immediately deleted from the Service upon cancellation – and your customized login (e.g. http://yourcompany.ublip.com) will be deleted. This information can not be recovered once your account is cancelled.
Does Ublip offer API access or a way to integrate with other applications or create mashups?
Currently the most recent location of a device is available as a GeoRSS feed. The URL of these feeds is available by going to the All Readings report for a device and clicking on the GeoRSS icon above the upper-right corner of the map (see the image below). We will be adding additional feeds and possibly other types of API access in the near future. If you have any suggestions or specific needs, feel free to contact us.
